By analyzing large amounts of real-time data, AI has the potential to flag any activity that is unauthorized or unusual, alert staff to developing safety risks based on those predictive analytics, and identify workflow inefficiencies that could impact patient care and staff safety while factoring in situational awareness.

Risk scores can then be automatically updated as new data is entered into a patient’s EHR. Based on the risk data, AI can also suggest tailored interventions such as bed alarms, electronic sitter support, physical therapy consults, and medication adjustments. Standard fall prevention methods (bedside safety checks, mobility aids, call light access) are not replaced by these advancements from AI, but each of the appropriate methods is paired to make prevention more proactive.

For elopement prevention, the technology monitors patient movement patterns and triggers alerts when someone unexpectedly leaves their assigned area. RTLS paired with AI learns typical activity patterns for each hospital area and time of day, enabling the platform to recognize when something is truly out of the ordinary and take action accordingly. 

Streamlined Emergency Response

In emergencies, every second counts. AI prioritizes alerts based on urgency and context, reducing alarm fatigue and helping teams respond faster. Traditional alarm systems often result in alarm fatigue. AI addresses this challenge by providing context-aware alerts that differentiate between routine updates and true emergencies. If a staff duress situation occurs, the system instantly pinpoints the exact location where a staff badge panic button is pressed and provides a unique alert to nearby team members and security personnel. If critical equipment malfunctions, it automatically dispatches maintenance teams. In clinical emergencies, alerts are prioritized based on patient context and available staff resources. 

This smart alert management reduces response times and minimizes unnecessary interruptions. By understanding the context and urgency of each situation, AI ensures that the right people receive the right information at the right time, improving overall response effectiveness without overwhelming busy clinical teams.

AI supports an environment that feels calm, purposeful, and professional by coordinating staff workflows and supporting timely room turnover after discharge. Leveraging tools that work in the background, such as AI-powered RTLS, patients are typically unaware of the technology, but they feel the results.
