At Brightview Wayne, a senior living community in Wayne, New Jersey, the holidays are in full swing, and residents enjoyed a bit of ’tis-the-season magic with the organization’s 4th annual Glamour Shots Event. As part of the festivities, community members were provided with full hair and makeup services before they posed for a special holiday portrait.

The photos are a special way to bring the joy of the holidays to the Brightview residents. Many families use the photos, in which the men and women of Brightview look and feel their best, for holiday cards, but they also act as a treasured keepsake for many.
Brightview’s Senior Vibrant Living Director, Chloe Matta, shared some insight into the heartwarming event, which took place on December 3 and brought smiles to about 200 residents.

“This day represents one of the most meaningful highlights of our entire year,” Matta said of the event. “You can truly feel the warmth in the room—an energy created by the beauty, dignity and joy shining from each of our residents. Our team pours so much heart into making this day special, and seeing our residents light up makes every bit of effort worth it. It’s always a little bittersweet, as we treasure every smile, every laugh and every shared moment, knowing how precious they are. This is a story that deserves to be shared—especially during a season that is joyful for many, yet tender and difficult for others. We hope it reminds everyone of the true meaning of the holidays: love, connection and cherishing the time we have with one another.”

About the Glamour Shots event

At the event, Brightview residents were given a full makeover by the community’s associates before they were ready to pose for a holiday photo. They were then welcomed into a transformed space, which was decked out in holiday décor, with a festive backdrop to use for their portraits.

New Jersey Senator Kristin M. Corrado even swung by to help apply makeup for the residents, tour the center and enjoy the festivities, posting photos of her visit on Facebook.
The inspiration for the event
Led by Renata Worthy, the Wellspring Village Director at Brightview, the event began as a holiday photo opportunity for Brightview residents. But over the years, it has expanded into a beloved tradition loved by all, offering residents a chance to be celebrated for the day. Glamour Shots is also a moment for residents to be pampered and treated like queens and kings!
