TERRYWHITE Chemmart has announced the expansion of its flagship Masterclass education program with the launch of Masterclass Prescriber, a dedicated professional development stream designed to support the network’s pharmacists practicing under the full scope of practice model.
Developed and facilitated by the internal education team from TerryWhite Chemmart and led by rural GP Dr Peta-Ann Teague, the new stream aims to position the brand at the forefront of continuing professional development (CPD) for pharmacist prescribers.
With pharmacist prescriber education being offered through a growing number of universities, the professional development stream has been purpose-built to help prescribing pharmacists consolidate their skills, maintain recency of practice, and strengthen their clinical confidence and competence.
“Pharmacist prescribing is one of the most important developments in the evolution of our profession,” said Brenton Hart, Chief Pharmacist at TerryWhite Chemmart.
“Through Masterclass Prescriber, we are investing in the success of our pharmacists so they can deliver safe, effective, and timely care to the communities they serve.”
Masterclass Prescriber includes a mix of educational formats, from small group online workshops and large-scale virtual seminars to immersive face-to-face events and personalised coaching.
“The curriculum is designed to foster critical clinical thinking and ensure prescribing pharmacists are supported at every stage of their practice journey,” a spokesperson for TerryWhite Chemmart said.
This expansion builds on the commitment TerryWhite Chemmart has to leading pharmacy education and empowering pharmacists to embrace their expanding role in Australia’s healthcare system, they added.
Dr Teague has over 35 years of clinical experience and is one of the clinical leaders of James Cook University’s pharmacist prescribing program, bringing a wealth of expertise in collaborative primary care and prescriber education.
“It’s not just about clinical knowledge, it’s about capability, confidence, and connection to peers and mentors,” said Dr Teague.
“Masterclass Prescriber is built on the principle that great prescribers never stop learning.” KB
