This is also good news for owners of the original collection, which is attracting eager buyers too. Wondering what your Lenox Spice Village full set could be worth? Keep reading to find out! Plus, learn what dupes are available if you’re looking to buy.

What is the Lenox Spice Village?

There are no shortage of ways to store and organize spices, but some are certainly more aesthetically pleasing than others! That’s certainly the case with the Lenox Spice Village, which is making a comeback.

The 24-piece collection features spice jars in the form of pretty pastel houses “to sprinkle storybook charm in your kitchen and your cooking.” Common spices like Allspice and Oregano are housed in too-cute cottages, villas and townhouses, each uniquely designed and hand-painted.

If the collection sounds familiar to you–it probably is; the first set was released in 1989. Now, the second edition has created a shopping frenzy as people have rushed to buy it for their own kitchens. Most of the 6-piece sets are already sold out, leaving most interested customers no choice but to shell out $299 if they want to buy the full set.

The excitement of the second edition means anyone who already owns the 1989 Lenox Spice Village set could end up earning some serious cash if they decide to sell it.

If you have the original Lenox Spice Village full set in your kitchen, you may be sitting on quite the treasure. It seems eager shoppers are on the hunt for the porcelain pieces and are willing to pay a hefty price for them too!

In just the last couple of weeks, several eBay users have sold their spice villages for more than double the price of the new collection. Here are some of the recent top dollar bids:

  • $999 (Includes spice rack; Sold on August 4.)
  • $500 (Sold on August 4.)
  • $850 (Includes spice rack; Sold on August 4.)
  • $899 (Sold on August 2.)
  • $1,175 (Includes spice rack; Sold on August 1.)

But you don’t have to own the full set to make money; individual pieces are being snatched up too. Most sellers appear to be making between $20 to $40 per individual spice house. (Of course, this profit is based on condition and rarity).

With popularity for the spice village still sky high, it’s a great time to put your collection on the market if you’re willing to part with it.

Affordable dupes that capture the look

Love the look of Lenox Spice Village but aren’t a fan of the price tag? There are some cheaper alternatives available that could still add a touch of whimsy to your kitchen.

Emma Bridgewater, a British ceramics manufacturing company, sells too-cute house shaped tins that are perfect for storage. These larger, $15 tins come in options like a Tea Shop, Bakery and Sweet Shop and can hold sugar packets and tea packets, as well as spices.

You can find some options available on Amazon or websites like Joanne Hudson Basics

If you’re seeking similar dupes to hold your spices, your best options are the Avalon Spice Village, R.S.V.P. INT’L Spice Village and EPI International Spice Market. All of these include a variety of small painted cottages/buildings.

Unfortunately, these vintage sets can also be pricey due to their rarity, but individual houses do pop up on websites like eBay and Poshmark. You might also have luck finding a spice village on Facebook marketplace or at your local secondhand store.
