Growing up, I was raised as a Catholic in an Italian home among four siblings. I was devastated when my father passed away when I was 10 years old. My mother, who never worked outside of the home, found herself raising five children alone.
When I was a child, we lived in California for a short time. My father purchased a 20-acre apple orchard. After a few years, we eventually moved back to the Midwest, but my father kept the orchard and rented it out.
When I was 19 years old, I was at work one day when I suddenly had an overwhelming feeling to send my mother flowers. This was strange because my mother always said fresh flowers were a waste of money, as they never lasted very long.
I had little extra money to spare, but driving home that day, the thought of buying flowers for my mother kept popping into my head.
As I approached the street where I knew there was a flower shop, I found myself pulling into the parking lot. I purchased the least expensive bouquet and wrote on the tag, “Just because I love you” without my name.
Then I drove to my mother’s house. When I pulled up, my brother happened to be playing basketball in the driveway. I handed him the flowers and told him to tell Mom someone dropped them off.
When I walked into my apartment, my phone was ringing. It was my mother, and she was sobbing. She told me she had been praying and asking if anyone heard her prayers.
She had the orchard up for sale because she couldn’t afford the taxes anymore. As a sign that someone heard her prayers, she had asked for a nice bouquet of flowers.
I couldn’t talk because I was so overwhelmed. I still remember the feeling because I realized without a doubt that I had brought her that sign. My father had heard and answered her prayers! She eventually sold the property, but the story of “the flowers” lives on forever.
Angel expert Sunny Dawn Johnston says…
“This story is a beautiful reminder of how love transcends time and space. Marian’s spontaneous act of kindness was divinely inspired,” says Sunny Dawn Johnson, a global authority on the angelic realm, with a portfolio of 22 books, including popular titles such as Invoking the Archangels, The Love Never Ends, and 365 Days of Angel Prayers. “Her father answered her mother’s prayer through her, showing us how our loved ones in spirit continue to guide and comfort us. These moments remind us to trust those unexplainable nudges—they’re often messages from above. Love doesn’t fade; it finds creative ways to let us know we’re never alone. Keep your heart open to signs—they are powerful reminders of the connection that lasts forever.”
