eClinicalWorks, Sunoh.ai, and healow Genie Combine to Reduce Workloads and Administrative Burden

This video explores the ways in which a range of solutions from eClinicalWorks—including  eClinicalWorks healow Insights, their HEDIS module, their integrated AI assistant (Sunoh.ai), and their AI-powered healow Genie customer assistant—are easing clinical and administrative burdens.

Esteban Gentle, Analyst at the multi-disciplinary Hendry Regional Medical Center in Clewiston, Florida, describes the challenges faced by modern medical institutions and how the eClinicalWorks and partner solutions address them.

Traditionally, data relevant to payers, such as lab results, diagnosis codes & clinical quality measures, had to be sent individually and manually to each payer. healow Insights does this automatically, and in a structured fashion that minimizes the risks of rejection. Gentle wished more payers would adopt healow insights as it helps in delivering excellent quality of care.

Through the eClinicalWorks HEDIS module, the hospital can select groups of patients, such as by geographic region, and perform risk stratification, finding out for instance who needs a screening and doesn’t have an appointment to do so.

Plus, HEDIS integrates with other eClinicalWorks modules that can contact patients automatically and help them set up appointments on their own.

Documentation of patient visits is not only notoriously tedious but is often put off, leading to problems in billing. The AI scribe solution, Sunoh.ai, has many advanced features, such as the ability to suggest diagnoses, tests, and medications. Plus, coders often view the transcripts so they can understand the full context of the documentation to allow them to fill in missing data that is needed for billing.

The scribe can even summarizes the exam room conversation into different languages in real-time, so that for instance an English-speaking doctor can see a Spanish-speaking patient without a human translator.

Finally, healow Genie will soon be handling common patient requests. Gentle says that the most common phone call a practice receives is a patient asking for the date and time of an upcoming appointment. These and other standard requests, such as for lab results, will soon be handled any time of day or night by healow Genie, an automated agent.  Gentle expects Genie to slice patient call volume in half and to possibly eliminate the common “Monday spike” since Genie will be available 24/7. Plus, it is smart enough to transfer the call to a person when necessary.
