As pet owners, our fur babies’ safety is top priority—and a major pet food brand just issued a recall on one of their products that should have you checking in on your latest purchases. On April 11, Blue Ridge Beef recalled both their Blue Ridge Beef Puppy Mix and their Blue Ridge Beef Kitten Mix due to salmonella and listeria contamination. All about the Blue Ridge Beef recall

Both the kitten and puppy mixes were recalled after a customer complaint indicated that an animal fell ill after consuming one of these products. Blue Ridge Beef Puppy and Kitten mixes were both sold in two-pound bags. Over 1,000 pounds of the Kitten Mix, which had a lot number of N26 0114, were part of this recall, as well as over 1,300 pounds of the Puppy Mix with a lot number of N25 1230. To find the lot number on your purchase, check the clips on the ends of the bags where you will find them printed.

It was between January 3 and January 24 that the Blue Ridge Beef Puppy Mix and the Blue Ridge Beef Kitten mix was sold by retailers. On March 20, after the initial complaint of illness was received, the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets sampled the product and shortly after on April 1 was the company notified about the contamination.
