Aldi is best known for their affordable grocery options and wide range of offerings, but on November 26 the popular grocery-store chain announced their Choceur brand holiday bark was voluntarily recalled because it contains undeclared allergens. What products were affected by the Aldi Choceur holiday bark recall
Silvestri Sweets Inc., based in Geneva, Illinois, recalled two versions of their holiday bark sold in 5-ounce bags. This recall came as a result of a packaging mixup. Choceur-branded Cookie Butter Holiday Bark was packaged in the Choceur-branded Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark bags, while the Choceur-branded Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark was packaged in the Choceur-branded Cookie Butter Holiday Bark bags. As a result, the Cookie Butter Holiday bark contained undeclared pecans, while the Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark was contaminated with wheat.

What to look out for
If you’ve purchased these products over the last few weeks, check your pantry. The Cookie Butter Holiday Bark was sold in a 5-ounce pouch bag. The lot number was 29225 and the best-by date was on 05/2026, printed on the back of each bag. The Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark was also sold in 5-ounce pouch-style bags, with a lot number 29225 and a best-by date of 08/2026.

What might happen if you consume these contaminated products
Though there haven’t yet been any reports of injury or illness, consuming nuts or wheat when you’re allergic can be life-threatening. If you have a wheat allergy or sensitivity, according to the Mayo Clinic, consuming products that contain such a thing can result in mild symptoms that range from stomach pain and nausea to hives and a rash, or, if your allergy is severe, anaphylaxis. Similarly, if those with a pecan allergy consume the contaminated holiday bark, symptoms can range from rashes and hives to more severe outcomes like difficulty breathing and anaphylaxis.
What to do if you bought the Aldi Choceur holiday bark
If you’ve purchased the recalled holiday bark, throw it away.
