THE Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has put sponsors of low-risk listed medicines on notice after fining functional food company Perdays Australia $19,800 for the alleged unlawful advertising of a listed medicine, in contravention of the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989.
Sponsors are permitted to supply low risk listed medicines to consumers, without the need for pre-market assessment of efficacy, quality, and safety by the TGA.
“The TGA will continue to take action where non-compliance with the Act is identified in accordance with our regulatory compliance framework,” the regulator warned.
