She Dreamed of Her Late Dad Warning Her About a Purchase—Then a Check Arrived for the Same Amount

Music was always a strong connection between my dad and me, and we enjoyed playing instruments together. A few months after my dad passed, I thought buying a new flute would lift my spirits. I considered buying an alto flute, a larger flute with a mellow sound. I found a used one online for $1,400.

I remember going to sleep that night, thinking about that flute, when I had a dream. I heard my father’s voice scolding me: “You’re spending too much money! Don’t buy that flute! It’s $2,400!” I began to argue with him, explaining that the used alto flute was $1,400. He then sternly replied, “It’s $2,400. Don’t buy that flute!” The dream abruptly ended, as if he had “hung up” on me.

Still asleep a few minutes later, I had a second dream of my dad’s voice, but this time, his tone changed: “I’m sorry, I apologize,” he said sweetly. “Buy that flute. I want you to buy that flute. And I am giving you $1,250 for it. Please buy that flute!” Again, it was as if my father hung up a phone, and the dream ended.

The next day, I saw an envelope in my mailbox addressed to my father. Inside was a refund check because I had overpaid his mortgage after he passed. It was for $1,250, just as he promised me in my dream the night before. I called about the used alto flute, but it had been sold. I found the same flute, new, on another website, and it was $2,400, the same amount my dad said in his “phone call.” I deposited the check and thought about how my dad warned me not to spend too much money, so I didn’t buy it.

A few months later, after doing some research, I bought a bass flute, which I like even more due to its very deep sound, and it cost exactly $1,250.

My father had a warm spot in his heart for instruments. I think he realized he’d made a mistake in the first dream, and “called me back” to let me know it was okay to purchase a new flute—and to make sure I knew it was a heavenly gift from him.
