At the end of 2024, TSMC initiated bulk production at its Arizona wafer fab. C. C. Wei, chairman and CEO of TSMC, announced an additional investment of US$100 billion on March 4, during a ceremony that was witnessed by US President Donald Trump. This initiative is intended to improve the domestic AI supply chain in the US and represents TSMC’s initial investment in advanced packaging facilities on American soil.
